Hello Loves,`
Today, I wanted to share with you something that I’ve recently been obsessed with, for those who have been following my Instagram may have noticed a while ago, I've started making some changes with my life and the environment! And that is: Sustainable fashion. What is Sustainable Fashion? Well, let me start off with the definition of Green Strategy " Sustainable fashion can be defined as clothing, shoes and accessories that are manufactured, marketed and used in the most sustainable manner possible, taking into account both environmental and socio-economic aspects. In practice, this implies continuous work to improve all stages of the product’s life cycle, from design, raw material production, manufacturing, transport, storage, marketing and final sale, to use, reuse, repair, remake and recycling of the product and its components. From an environmental perspective, the aim should be to minimize any undesirable environmental effect of the product’s life cycle by: (a) ensuring efficient and careful use of natural resources (water, energy, land, soil, animals, plants, biodiversity, ecosystems, etc); (b) selecting renewable energy sources (wind, solar, etc) at every stage, and (c) maximizing repair, remake, reuse, and recycling of the product and its components. "
To break it down a little, sustainability simply means creating with as little of an environmental footprint as possible, product will be made with responsibly sourced materials and manufacturing processes, As consumers, we should all be responsible for our choices we make in our daily life, making the best choices when we can, for both ourselves and our environment.
Every day, more and more companies are discovering new ways to become more environmentally conscious, and I'm super happy for the opportunity to try a Blouse from the California based sustainable clothing brand: Belvele. Belvele is one of many brands that focuses on stopping the contribution on demand of products that harm the environment and put people's lives at risk. Did you know that fashion industry has a devastating effect on not only the environment, causing 20% of the world's industrial water pollution? Not only does it affect the environment, it has a greatly impact on human lives. After the collapse of Rana Plaza garment factory back in 2013, which killed more than a thousand people. The founder of Belvele, Monica Rojas turned her attention to ethical fashion and even learned to sew for herself. To read more about Belvele and Monica Rojas, click here! ![]()
